Our passionate educators are not only qualified and experienced but also deeply committed to each child’s growth, development, and happiness. The Sydney kindergarten program in long day care centres also runs for 40 weeks each year during school hours, however extended hours of care are provided. In long day care centres the kindergarten children get to enjoy additional experiences outside of the kindergarten program. In Sydney, New South Wales Education there are eight preschools that are attached to schools. Unlike childcare centres, which offer long day care, kindergartens and preschools usually only run for six hours a day, five days a fortnight (three days one week, two days the next) during each school long day care pennant hills term.
However, I witnessed something very disturbing. Two white boys, who appeared to be older than the other children, began chasing my 4-year-old daughter. I saw multiple instances where all five children surrounded my daughter, shouting at her in a provocative manner and preventing her from moving forward. My daughter was frightened and had to hide behind me several times. There were three educators present, but none of them intervened. However, with closer observation, it was clear that this was not the case.I didn’t step in right away because I wanted to observe how both the children and educators would respond.
My hope is that everyone who comes to PHWMCC feels warmly welcomed and a sense of belonging here. If you are considering attending PWHMCC I would encourage you to contact us to arrange a time to come and visit and take a look at our beautiful preschool. My son has been attending Guardian Cherrybrook since he was under two years old.
Another wonderful learning journey came about through the struggles to help children go through the many unhappy moments in the early childhood years. These struggles are now encompassed in what we call EQ (Emotional Intelligence), and teachers making each struggle a learning opportunity to support children's happiness. It involves role plays, demonstrations, discussions, and guidance from teachers, peers and parents. We aim to provide children with strategies on how to be resilient and respectful.
