Best Compact Strollers 2026: Mom Tests and Reviews

I managed to do it pretty easily, and I have a partially paralyzed left hand. I had heaps of fun testing this stroller out, and recently, I even got on a bicycle (not my thing!) and tried it out in  tow mode. This stroller is a beast, and truly, it is only for the most sporting amongst us. It’s designed like a bike trailer, but thanks to its multiple bases/setups, it works as a stroller, a jogging stroller, a bike trailer, and even a stroller on skis for snowshoeing and fun in the sand. I’m also a huge fan of the independent suspension on this stroller that settles and levels as you hit large divots, giving the passenger a smooth, easy ride.
It features a true one-handed folding capability and, at under 17 pounds, is fairly lightweight. Our pros loved that the stroller can fully recline so it's suitable for newborns with the addition of a Newborn Nest (and perfect for stroller naps). For an even more comfortable experience, it includes an adjustable leg rest. The pros at the Good Housekeeping Institute already loved the Bugaboo Butterfly, describing it as compact stroller a "first-rate folding stroller" that won a Good Housekeeping Family Travel Award. Now the latest Bugaboo Butterfly 2 is even better for infants and toddlers on the go, featuring larger wheels for a smoother ride.

UPPAbaby has long been trusted by traveling parents, thanks in part to their specialized travel protection program, offering a dedicated travel bag tailored to their strollers. We recommend taking some time to consider how your new stroller can fit into your lifestyle. What works for one family might not be suitable for another’s needs.
Compact folding is ideal for small homes or limited trunk space. Larger wheels offer better control on uneven terrain, while smaller wheels are ideal for city sidewalks and tight indoor spaces. A smart budget helps new parents understand how to choose a baby stroller without overspending or missing important features. Choosing the right stroller begins with understanding how your daily routines shape the features you genuinely need. Many new parents start by learning how to choose the right baby stroller based on lifestyle, environment, and long-term plans. Parents say the Bravo works very well on smooth surfaces, though it can be harder to push on bumpier ground.
Overall, if you have the cash and want an excellent double stroller (and single stroller!), this is the best one you can find! The best features to look for in an airplane stroller is how lightweight and easy to fold is it. If the your stroller fits in the overhead bin, that’s a huge bonus. From there, the best strollers for air travel have other features like a good recline, adjustable footrest, cup holders and a travel bag. The Chicco Bravo Quick-Fold Stroller includes the Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat for a baby-approved combo. The stroller has a compact design and features large wheels with all-wheel suspension for uneven terrain.

At just $200 and 16 pounds, the Bombi is a lightweight travel stroller akin to the Nuna Trvl. Like the Trvl it’s easy to fold and lift in and out of a car trunk, and comes with a small travel bag. It may fit in an overhead compartment (though you should always check with the airline first) and it would be very easy to check at the gate. For toddlers, a full-size or lightweight stroller is often a good option.
Of course it’s important that you like the car seat portion of the travel system, but it’s worth noting that your child will eventually grow out it. For this reason, it pays to place more of an emphasis on the stroller portion of the travel system. With a sleek, ergonomic design and five different modes of use, it’s easy to see why this travel system has such good ratings.
Assembly is quick, the one-handed fold and (deep) recline are genuinely useful, and the ride is smooth and controlled thanks to large rubber tires and suspension. Maneuverability is excellent, even when fully loaded, and the stroller glides easily over sidewalks, curbs, and uneven terrain. The seating is comfortable with multiple recline positions (including lay-flat), adjustable footrests, and thoughtful touches like peek-a-boo windows and soft, high-quality fabrics. Storage is another highlight, with a massive under-seat basket and convenient pockets for everyday essentials. While it can feel bulky in double mode, that’s the trade-off for its incredible configurability and performance. You can see all our impressions in our full review of the Mockingbird 3.0 stroller.

However, since it relies on a snap-in car seat, you’ll most likely be limited to 12 months of total use. We are on the same page, especially with the Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System. The system includes the Ypsi Stroller and the Primo Viaggio 4-35 Nido Infant car seat. Best of all, it seamlessly converts to a double stroller when needed and desired. Featuring adjustable handle height, an expanding footwell, passenger harnesses, a one-touch foot break and more, this wagon is loved by many.
The seat is unusually high up, making it tricky for me as a five-foot-tall adult to see precisely where I was going. This was particularly problematic because the Mockingbird was wider than any other in the testing group. Given its girth, the front wheels are strangely small, and they tend to catch on sidewalks. If your stroller is supposed to fit in the overhead but the plane is too full, having a carry bag lets you easily  gate-check it. Plenty of families, including many of our Lab experts, actually prefer to gate-check their stroller. The 3D mini folds long, to the size of a traditional umbrella.

Wagons also get more tests on tougher terrain to see how the wheels and control hold up. When I started shopping for a stroller, I purchased the cheapest one that worked with my car seat and called it a day. Both Nuna and UPPAbaby strollers can be used for newborns when paired with the right accessories or travel systems. We like a stroller that can stand while folded, because you can set it and forget it while you deal with other travel and packing hassles. However, sometimes an umbrella fold, which is long and skinny, is nice for road trips when you have a tightly packed car. Watch videos online to see how travel strollers fold and how you are expected to carry one in its folded position. This Good Housekeeping Parenting Award stood out for its under 15 pounds lightweight design and minimal footprint.
It features a height-adjustable handle that can be flipped from push to pull and it’s recommended for children 6 months and up. Two seats are on either end of the wagon with a dropped foot rest in the centre. Baby Jogger has a great line-up of premium quality strollers, and the City Mini GT2 makes our list for its compact size.
